This project has been carried out to improve the quality of the water at the Vila Joiosa Drinking Water Treatment Plant (DWTP), making the following measures:

 

New decanting system, with 2 modular lamellar decanters, which improves the decanting capacity.

 

Renovation and extension of the current filtration system.

 

New disinfection system by generating chlorine dioxide.

 

Dewatering line for the sludge generated during decanting.

 

Renovation of the general panel and the electrical lines of the process.

All these improvements will increase the current treatment capacity, increasing 270 m3/h to 480 m3/h.

The electrical lines will be used for pumping, valves and lighting of the hydraulic infrastructure, necessary for the correct system operation.

The improvement will be carried out by demolishing the old circular decanter and installing the two lamellar decanters. Each one will support a flow of 240 m3/h, it would be enough for the average consumption to use one of them, and if it is needed, the two decanters will work together.

Thanks to this, there will be more capacity and higher quality maintenance.
